from the photobook Little Angels i got recently at a book sale. one of those unexpected great finds. taken me ages to post this up cause everytime i try blogger takes too long and i have to go do something else before it's uploaded successfully. anyways, done with 2-6B pencils.

5th Week of Art Class!

but this time, i didn't teach anything. ( i was paid for 4 weeks but july has 5, so.. just nice i guess.) our dear mrs. Ong baked a bunch of cupcakes and let us do the decorating. we made jungle animals at first, then did whatever we liked.
cupcake icing is seriously fun. and the 4 kids were hilarious. can i eat this? can i eat that? LOL.

preparing for tomorrow's lesson-- finger puppets! it's not exactly a lesson like the previous painting and drawing ones. more like a project.

i just made this dinosaur puppet for a sample, and it's too cute to be true. it's like baby godzilla in bright green! hope i can organize the kids well enough to have a short show with all the puppets they've made. wheee~

no, not gor gor daren's baby. his friend gave birth (i guess?) and he asked me to make a card. went for $3.00. i had to make the envelope because of the big size. on top of this he bought a bunch of cards that i posted up previously. ^^

Pleasantly Strange

this afternoon was funnay funnay! after teens club geil and i headed over to sembawang park for our very first painting/drawing session. we conquered the paiseh-ness and thickened our skins, ignoring the stares. note: i love my new easel. anyways i drew a portrait and soon the people from the party that was going on behind us approached me asking if i would draw the birthday baby girl. so i agreed warning them of my raw skills, but they said it was okay even if it didn't hold resemblance. so what have i to lose right? (okay, on second thought, my reputation as a trusted portrait drawer. still, how to say no?)after that baby another one came. (!!) then a lady. it was at the lady's turn that i couldn't take it and squealed " $5!". HAHA, she went away unhappy, but then a boy came with money, and another boy with more money. after their turns the lady came back with the 5 bucks. funny right? since there was still some time i drew another young lady and then packed up, earning a grand (hah) sum of $25.00.

i had to repeat that i homeschool, i think, 1000 times? close to that. got mixed reactions to the info. skeptical tones, but nothing offensive of course. apparently i do not look local too. i got china and indonesia. that's fine, indonesians are pretty.

geil was my assistant. she answered my calls and fed me gummies and collected money. sweet, thanks darlin'.

went to cousin's for birthday popiah party (peranakan one hokay) and just got back. arm pain. ow.

if anyone is interested in commissioning me to do a drawing (usually pencil.) this is how it works. send me a high res photo through email (at the side column. it's somewhere there.) and state your name, hp number, and any preferences. i will get back to you with a price and if it's agreeable, i'll get it done in a week. drawing block size. meetup delivery and payment. it's a full week's work, not a 10 minute sketch, so the usual rate is $30 for one face on a sheet, $45 for 2, etc.

really, it's cheaper than those touristy artists' rates. you go look around lah. :D
